About Us

The Kansas City Swiss Society was founded in 1868 by Swiss immigrants, mostly dairy farmers.

It was primarily used to bring immigrants together and form a community. They held social events and helped with funeral costs.

For many years, social events were held at various member’s farms, until the chalet and its property was donated to the Society by the Küpfer family.

The Society now hosts several events every year to celebrate our Swiss heritage.

We are a community who promotes awareness and appreciation for our Swiss culture and heritage.

Chalet Küpfer

The Chalet property was originally owned by the Küpfer family. It was purchased after WWII. The family bought 13 acres, built homes on 4 acres and saved 9 acres for recreation.

The Chalet was built in stages starting around 1952.

Eventually, the Küpfer family donated the property to the KCSS and it became Chalet Küpfer where the majority of our events are held.
